President Viktor Yanukovych deems it necessary to consider the situation in the country during the extraordinary session of the Parliament.

The Head of the state said this during the meeting with Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Volodymyr Rybak.

You know that recent mass disturbances have been accompanied by violence, bloodshed and arsons. Today, the situation requires immediate settlement, said the President.

I would ask You to call on the deputies to convene and discuss the situation, he emphasized.

The Head of the state believes that the Parliament has to become a platform for continuing settlement of the political crisis.

"My negotiations with the opposition are the first part in resolving the political crisis. The second part is that this discussion must be transferred to the parliamentary platform. The proposals that will be elaborated both in the course of my negotiations and in the course of preparation to the session jointly with the people’s deputies must be considered in the Parliament," noted Viktor Yanukovych. He emphasized the necessity of continuing the work of the Parliament despite deputies vacation.

In response, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Volodymyr Rybak noted that in view of the situation in the country, "the vacation will be later".

"There are lots of issues that must be solved not on Maidan but in the session hall. It is essential for the opposition and the majority to convene and discuss all of the issues arising: government resignation as well as the issues pertaining to the laws adopted by the Verkhovna Rada," Volodymyr Rybak said.

According to him, the majority and the opposition have to listen to each other, however, "the issue of peace in our state should be the top priority".

"I think that I will sign the respective order today, and at the beginning of the week we will invite the deputies of the Verkhovna Rada to consider all of the issues arising today," the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada stressed.
